In today’s youthful Nigeria, more than 60% of the population is under the age of 25. Contrast that with an ageing country like the UK, where the under-25 figure is now as low as 20%. 

 

These are statistics highly envied by the much larger economies like the United Kingdom, Germany, France, USA, Japan, all of whom possess aging populations that contribute to the ticking time bomb. 

 

The size and youthfulness of Nigeria’s population is one that is rare and greatly envied and as such bestows a huge advantage and opportunity on the West African giant.

 

But like any resource, young people are only valuable if a country uses them wisely.
